How to transfer your EPF online: A Step-by-Step Guide
The Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) is a retirement savings scheme that is available to all salaried individuals in India. As per the current rules, both the employee and the employer contribute 12% of the employee's basic salary, including dearness allowance, to the EPF account. However, if you change your job, it is necessary to transfer the EPF balance from your old account to the new one. In the past, the process of transferring EPF involved a lot of paperwork and was time-consuming. But, with the introduction of the online transfer process, transferring your EPF account has become a lot easier and quicker.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to transfer your EPF online:
Step 1: Check your eligibility
Firstly, you need to check if you are eligible for an online transfer. The following conditions must be met:
Your Universal Account Number (UAN) must be activated.
Your Aadhaar card should be linked with your UAN.
Your bank account details should be seeded with your UAN.
Step 2: Login to the EPFO member portal
To start the transfer process, you need to log in to the EPFO member portal using your UAN and password. If you have not registered yourself on the portal, you can do so by visiting the EPFO website and clicking on the 'Activate UAN' tab. You will then be required to enter your UAN, mobile number, and other details to activate your account.
Step 3: Click on 'One Member - One EPF Account (Transfer Request)'
Once you have logged in, click on the 'Online Services' tab and select the 'One Member - One EPF Account (Transfer Request)' option from the drop-down menu.
Step 4: Verify personal details and PF account details
After selecting the transfer request option, you will be directed to a page where you need to verify your personal details and PF account details. If the details displayed are correct, click on the 'Get OTP' button to receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.
Step 5: Enter OTP and click on 'Submit'
After receiving the OTP, enter it on the page and click on 'Submit.' This will generate a Universal Account Number (UAN) based PF transfer request.
Step 6: Check transfer claim status
After submitting the transfer request, you can check its status by logging in to the EPFO member portal and clicking on the 'Online Services' tab. Select the 'Track Claim Status' option from the drop-down menu and enter the PF transfer claim ID to check the status.
In conclusion, transferring your EPF account online is a simple and hassle-free process. With these easy steps, you can transfer your EPF balance from your old account to the new one without any hassle.
